Illinois Republican Assembly Endorses Isaac Hayes for Congress Against Jesse Jackson Jr, "Senate Candidate 5" From the Blago Indictment.

CHICAGO -- The Illinois Republican Assembly, an affiliate of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies, today endorsed the candidacy of Rev. Isaac C. Hayes, a Republican who is running to unseat Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., otherwise known as "Senate Candidate 5 from the Blagojevich indictment."
"We need elected officials who can reach for the stars," said Nancy Bruening, national director of the Illinois Republican Assembly. "Not someone, like Senate Candidate 5, who is a satellite in the orbit of Rod Blagojevich."
Hayes has been testing the waters for several months now, and spoke to a huge crowd at the Fourth of July Tea Party at Navy Pier. His catchphrase to decry the trillion dollar Democratic stimulus, "enough is enough," is now being used by other GOP figures as well. The campaign is running on a conservative platform that promotes economic growth and individual liberty, as opposed to the statist solutions offered by the current incumbent in Illinois' Congressional District 2.
"Enough is enough with corruption in IL 2," said Hayes. "Fourteen years of corruption have stopped school choice, economic development, entrepreneurship and reform."
Rev. Hayes is a graduate of Illinois State University, Normal, Ill., and is founder of Heat on the Street Ministries, which ministers to African-American youths in Chicago. He is also an associate pastor at a leading African-American church in Chicago.
"We need honesty and integrity in government," said Hayes. "We cannot have real change when we have such severe corruption."
